New York City Police detectives tracking a stolen rental car with a GPS device helped the Wyoming Highway Patrol arrest three jewelry theft suspects, according to the Associated Press.
The NYPD notified the Wyoming troopers to watch for the car, which was stolen from a car rental agency and believed to be in the state’s Rawlins region. The rental car company had the car equipped with a GPS tracking device.
Wyoming Highway Patrol officers spotted the car in Rock Springs on March 8 and arrested the three occupants. Officers said they found $37,000 of stolen jewelry, as well as laptop computers, iPods and digital cameras during a search of the vehicle.
The three suspects have been arraigned in Wyoming circuit court.
