AAA In Support of Safe Rental Car Act
The letter also stated that AAA will work with Boxer to ensure that the bill becomes law.

AAA President and CEO Robert Darbelnet sent a letter on Aug. 20 to Sen. Barbara Boxer stating that AAA supports the Raechel and Jacqueline Houck Safe Rental Car Act of 2012 that Boxer introduced in the Senate on Aug. 2. The letter also stated that AAA will work with Boxer to ensure that the bill becomes law.
The proposed legislation, S. 3502, aims to amend title 49 of the United States Code and would prohibit the rental of vehicles subject to a vehicle safety recall until the defect or noncompliance is remedied. There is also a companion bill in the House.
Darbelnet thanked Boxer for introducing the bill. “As an advocate for the safety and security of all motorists, AAA views this legislation as a common-sense solution that would help keep unsafe vehicles off the road,” the letter states, adding that it also commends Hertz for agreeing to a pledge in which Boxer urged four of the major car rental companies to sign.
