At a regular city council meeting, the Oklahoma City Airport Trust voted Wednesday, Sept. 28., to award C.H. Guernsey with an almost $3.2 million contract to begin design of a new consolidated car rental (conrac) facility at the city’s airport, according to NewsOk.com.

The Will Rogers World Airport conrac was approved by the city July 27, according to the council’s Sept. 28 meeting agenda. The total construction cost for the facility is estimated at $32 million.

The conrac will include both on- and off-airport rentals and is expected to encompass 40-acres of property, where RACs will have their customer service counter, ready and return lots, maintenance areas, a bus access loop road and other amenities. The facility will ensure direct access to the terminal area.

C.H Guernsey will begin talks with rental agencies and others affected by the construction effective immediately. Currently, the airport has no capacity to expand any rental spaces.
