car2go launched in London with 500 smart fortwos.

car2go launched in London — its 17th city — making available 500 smart fortwo vehicles for three boroughs including Islington, Sutton and Newham, the company announced  on Dec. 4.

The Surrey Comet reported that some residents are complaining of parking issues since the vehicles are taking up parking spaces in their neighborhoods. But the street parking is part of car2go’s agreement when moving in to a new city.

Registration for car2go will be free until Dec. 31 and all new customers will be credited 30 minutes of free driving.

Once registered, car2go members can locate available cars through the car2go London website or by using the smartphone app. Cars will also be available at select Europcar stores throughout the city.

car2go allows customers to leave their vehicle in any available parking spot and does not require customers to return their vehicle to the same spot they picked it up from.
