TULSA, Okla. -- Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group has acquired the Thrifty Car Rental franchise operation in Hartford, Conn.
The acquisition, effective Nov. 1, includes the Thrifty location at Bradley International Airport. The purchase reflects DTG's corporate growth strategy of acquiring franchisees in key U.S. markets.
With DTG's acquisitions and the opening of greenfield locations, the company has added 13,500 vehicles on an annualized basis to the company's U.S. rental fleet in 2003. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
"We are very pleased to add the Hartford Thrifty location to our network of corporate locations in the northeast United States," said Jay Foley, senior executive vice president of corporate operations. "After acquiring the Thrifty rights to operate both Boston and Manchester, New Hampshire, within the last year, Hartford is a welcome addition in our objective to canvas New England with a network of corporately operated stores."
