Hertz On Demand Expands to Milton Keynes in England
Hertz’s car sharing company now offers Nissan Leaf rentals by the hour to Milton Keynes residents, visitors and businesses.
The Hertz Corp. signed an electric vehicle (EV) car sharing partnership with the Milton Keynes Council on Jan. 15 to bring Hertz On Demand to residents, visitors and businesses in the area.
The car sharing service will offer Nissan Leaf vehicles for rent by the hour. The service is free to join and membership is open to anyone over the age of 21 with a valid UK license.
“Electric vehicles are of huge importance to us and in the UK we're dedicated to expanding our electric mobility solutions outside of London,” said Michel Taride, president of Hertz International.
The Hertz On Demand EVs can be booked over the phone, on an iPhone app or by visiting www.hertzondemand.co.uk. Rates include insurance, maintenance, cleaning and roadside assistance.
Customers will be able to park and charge the vehicles for free and can currently charge at 100 POLAR charging points in Milton Keynes and within 20 miles of the town, as well as access to more than 2,000 charging points across the country, including rapid charging units that can charge a Nissan LEAF in approximately 20 minutes. The charging points are available through Chargemaster's Source London and POLAR national EV charging networks, according to the announcement.
Hertz said the company has plans to expand the service to more countries in the coming months. The new fleets will feature fleet management tools and GPS systems.
