The city of Denver announced plans to expand car sharing in the city to provide more transportation alternatives for residents and tourists, according to The Denver Post.

Public Works officials presented a plan to the City Council on April 2 that would allow the city to approve permits for the vehicles, making it easier for companies to reserve on-street parking for car sharing vehicles.

One concern from the public is creating a parking shortage due to the spaces marked for car sharing vehicles, but officials said they would utilize unused space.

The changes are expected to be approved next month by Public Works Manager Jose Cornejo after a public-outreach campaign.
