June Rates Lower Than Past Two Years

The June 2015 average rate quote was down $4.85 from a year ago, according to The Tennant Group and Rate-Highway’s 50-City rate survey. Last year, a spike in recalls caused rates to increase from the third week of June and all of July, but they dropped by the last week of July.

Off-Lease Rental Cars Juiced April Wholesale Prices

Average wholesale used vehicle prices increased in April in a trend attributed to a significant proportion of sales of higher priced, late-model, off-rental, manufacturer program vehicles that elevated average prices, according to ADESA.


April Rates Continue Downward Trend

After seeing a peak in July 2014, every month's rates since then have been down, according to The Tennant Group and Rate-Highway's 50-City rate survey. The average decrease from August 2014 to April 2015 was $2.92; April's $3.19 decrease was a continuation of this trend.


Used Prices Perform Stronger in Truck Classes

Average wholesale used vehicle prices rose in March on both a month-over-month and year-over-year basis — up 4.7% compared to February and up 2% relative to March 2014, according to ADESA Analytical Services‘ monthly analysis of wholesale used vehicle prices. The truck classes (vans, SUVs, pickups) performed much stronger than the car and crossover classes.


Mileage Remains Above 45K on Rental Resale Vehicles

Wholesale used vehicle prices fell 0.5% in March and dropped the Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index to a reading of 124.5, almost equaling a year ago (124.4). Rental resale vehicles remained above 45,000 miles, up 8% from a year ago.


March Rates Continue Year-Over-Year Decline

According to Rate-Highway and The Tennant Group’s 50-City Survey, the average overall rates in March were down $3.36 from a year ago. Washington Dulles International Airport had the highest rate at $90.07 while San Diego International Airport marked the highest rate at $32.27.


Manheim Reiterates Support for Multiplatform Bidding System

Manheim and several other remarketing industry partners will continue moving forward to develop a multiplatform bidding system in the wake of announcements by ADESA and ServNet Auctions dropping out of the planning process.
