According to the San Francisco Chronicle, in order to address lack of car sharing in certain areas of San Francisco, the city is in talks with car2go.

Currently, City CarShare, Zipcar and BMW's DriveNow program operate in San Francisco, but there’s concern that the city lacks car sharing vehicles in certain neighborhoods.

However, because of car2go’s required parking agreement as a one-way car sharing company, there are questions as to whether the company should be allowed to use on-street parking spaces as it does in the other cities it holds partnerships with, such as in Washington, D.C. San Francisco would have to change its parking policies to let car2go drivers use on-street parking for free.
