At the 2014 World Travel Awards event in Anguilla, Avis Car Rental was named the "World's Leading Car Rental Company" and the "World's Leading Luxury Car Rental Company." Additionally, its website (Avis.com) has been recognized as the "World's Leading Car Rental Company Website."

The World Travel Awards serve to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry. Regional ceremonies were held throughout the year and then winners from each of these competed in the grand finale to determine the winner of each of the "World's Leading" categories.

"World Travel Awards voters from around the globe have once again recognized Avis as a leader in the mobility market, with the organization having been honored with a clutch of top titles at our 2014 Grand Final," said Graham Cooke, president, World Travel Awards. "It is an honor to present these titles to such a worthy winner."

At regional ceremonies, Avis was named "Leading Car Rental Company" in North America, South America, the Caribbean, Asia and South Africa, says the company.

"We are driven to deliver against our global strategic initiative of putting the customer first, whether it's by investing in technology to enhance the customer experience or providing outstanding service," said Ronald L. Nelson, chairman and chief executive officer of Avis Budget Group. "We're thrilled that the World Travel Awards, a hallmark of quality travel, have recognized our continued commitment."
