Avis has started to add the first of its 100 new Yaris Hybrids to its London region fleet, according to a report by Fleet World. Some of these locations include Heathrow and Stansted airports and central London.
Eventually, Avis plans to add the Yaris Hybrid at its southeast locations, from Gatwick in the south to Luton Airport in the north, says the report.
Avis chose this hybrid vehicle because it’s cost-effective for customers and is exempt from the London congestion charge.
“Yaris scores highly in many respects against our requirements for an inner city hire car; it is easy to drive and reliable,” Jane Goodwin, Avis UK fleet procurement manager, told Fleet World. “The ultra-low emissions secured by its hybrid system make it a unique proposition in its class in achieving exemption from the London congestion charge.”
