Travelport Expands Rental Car Platform

Travelport, a travel commerce platform, has signed a new global deal with Mobacar, a ground transportation distribution platform that offers content from both global and regional transport providers.

This new partnership means Travelport-connected travel agents will have access to additional car rental options, including smaller regional companies. Additionally, Travelport customers will also have access to relevant travel policies and multilingual terms and conditions, according to the company.

Based in Ireland, Mobacar has developed a global distribution platform for all forms of ground transportation, including car rental, transfers, motorhomes, motorcycles, and helicopters. Mobacar connects online travel companies and their customers, such as airlines and online travel agents, to a global network of transportation options, according to the company.

“We are delighted to be entering into this new relationship with Travelport,” said Mike Webster, CEO of Mobacar. “Combining Travelport’s cutting edge technology with Mobacar’s global supply footprint will help us with our continued global expansion. Additionally, this relationship with Travelport will enable us to reach new travel agency customers and offer them more choice and flexibility of car rental content.”

“This strategic relationship with Mobacar is key in ensuring that we continue to build on our extensive content offering for customers, said Niklas Andreen, Travelport’s senior vice president of hotel, car, and advertising. “We already offer unrivalled hotel content, with over 650,000 hotel properties available, and now through Mobacar, we will be able to offer additional car options across the world. Car rental is an important growth area for us, as well as our travel agency customers, so we are continuing to put real focus behind it. … ”
