Enterprise Holdings announced it has cut ties with the National Rifle Association, following a growing backlash to the pro-gun lobby in response to the Parkland, Fla., shooting that left 17 dead Feb. 14.

The sponsorship offered discounts to card carrying NRA members once they paid their $40 annual fee.

Earlier this week, Think Progress published a list of companies that do business with or have sponsorships with the NRA. The list prompted many on social media sites such as Twitter to call for these companies to sever their ties with the NRA.

An Enterprise Holdings spokesperson said that its partnership, which was offered with Enterprise, Alamo, and National, will officially be terminated March 26.

Thank you @enterprisecares, @Alamo and @nationalcares. I ALWAYS use @enterprisecares when I travel and you never fumble. And you haven't fumbled this either. Well done, guys. https://t.co/Sbrj0SDsA9

Many on Twitter thanked the auto rental company for canceling its discount program with the pro-gun rights group, which has consistently and successfully lobbied against gun reform and control legislation.

Similarly, First National Bank of Omaha announced it will not renew its contract with the NRA to issue the NRA Visa Card, a spokesperson told the Huffington Post.

Very glad that I can continue to use @Enterprise now that they have severed ties with the @NRA. I want to rent cars from a company that cares about safety above profit. #BoycottNRA
