Avis Names Deaver Marketing Vice President

Avis Rent A Car has named Scott Deaver the company's new executive vice president of marketing. Deaver, 48, was previously chief marketing officer for move.com, an online real estate and home services portal launched by Cendant Corp. in early 2000.

Last month, Avis became a wholly owned subsidiary of Cendant Corp., after Cendant concluded the purchase of Avis Group Inc.

"This appointment marks a new phase in our marketing efforts as Avis becomes fully integrated into Cendant Corp.," said F. Robert Salerno, president and chief operating officer of Avis. "We expect that Scott's energy and creativity, marketing knowledge and track record for strengthening brands will lead Avis and Cendant's rental car operations to new levels of growth."
