BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- At the request of local Payless Car Rental and Dollar Rent A Car operators, the Central Illinois Regional Airport Authority has agreed to permit off-airport operators to provide shuttle services to and from the airport. A contract with the airport will spell out guidelines.

Only three car rental companies have secured in-terminal counters at the airport: Hertz, Avis and National. Enterprise occupies a former terminal building.

The airport authority made its decision at a board meeting Nov. 14. The Central Illinois Regional Airport serves the Bloomington-Normal area, where such companies as State Farm, Eureka Company and Mitsubishi have U.S. headquarters.
