PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- Budget Rent A Car has awarded its advertising account to McCann-Erickson New York.

Cliff Freeman and Partners previously held the Budget account, before Cendant acquired Budget last November.

McCann has handled the Avis account since 1999. The Avis and Budget brands will be managed by separate account and creative teams within the McCann-Erickson New York office.

"Although Budget and Avis operate as separate brands, we are impressed with the work McCann has done for our sister company as well as with their approach to the strategic positioning for the Budget brand," said Scott Deaver, executive vice president of marketing for the Cendant Car Rental Group. "With the assistance of McCann, we will present two distinct and compelling brand positions to the car renting public."
