Hertz's 1st Quarter Pre-tax Loss Reaches $7 Million

DEARBORN, Mich. -- Ford Motor Co. reported that Hertz's pre-tax loss in the first quarter was $7 million, compared with a $59 million loss during the same period in 2003.

Ford attributed the improvement to higher car rental demand. However, the rise in demand was offset by unfavorable pricing.
