Fla. Tax to Garner $8M for Lee County Transportation Funding

LEE COUNTY, Fla. --- Some Florida communities have been quick to evaluate plans of implementing the $2 car rental tax that the state legislature earlier this month.

In Lee County, Fla., the tax is expected to produce $8 million for county roadwork, the metropolitan planning organization announced at its May 19 meeting.

The tax is estimated to bring in about $150 million a year for state road construction projects.
