Iceland to Introduce Hydrogen Rental Cars

Icelandic New Energy (INE) is planning to make available a small fleet of hydrogen rental cars via Hertz Car Rental in Iceland, pending the outcome of pre-launch testing later this year.

Toyota’s hybrid Prius model will be converted to run on hydrogen and the cars will be available from next April as part of a new multi-million dollar demonstration program.

Implementation of a new program, SMART-H2 (Sustainable Marine and Road Transport - Hydrogen in Iceland), is getting under way next month.
