New Services Keep Sixt on the Forefront of Technology

Sixt AG, one of Europe's largest car rental companies and an international provider of high-quality mobility solutions, is now offering several new technological services.

First, for Sixt customers renting BMWs, the car rental company now offers cars with the intelligent technology system BMW ConnectedDrive at no extra cost. As part of an exclusive partnership with BMW, the innovative technology works like an electronic travel guide. It creates a network for drivers that can provide them with personalized information at all times—from traffic information, news and weather reports to private and commercial addresses—which can be transmitted directly into the navigation system. Two services—BMW Assist and BMW Online—are available to the driver. Nearly all of the BMWs added to the Sixt fleet this year have BMW ConnectedDrive.

Additionally, Sixt will offer its customers mobile rental bookings through BlackBerry phones, including the models Curve, Bold, Pearl and Storm. The application is tailored to the smartphone’s capabilities, allowing users to reserve their car of choice quickly and simply from one of nearly 3,500 Sixt stations in more than 90 countries worldwide. As an introductory offer, customers using the service will receive 10 percent off bookings in Germany and France up to the end of June.

Customers using a BlackBerry can simply download the Sixt application for free at, or visit to gain direct access to the downloads. Customers can reserve their desired car via BlackBerry, and receive confirmation via text message or PDS. The “MySixt” page shows an overview of current reservations as well as the option to cancel or change bookings. Additionally, customers can login with their Sixt customer cards, giving them access to their individual rates. Likewise, business customers can also access business rates.

In addition, Sixt also provides iPhone application which allows customers to book vehicles using the Apple iPhone.

iPhone users can simply download the Sixt application free of charge via the Internet (, iPhone or iTunes. Once customers have made their reservations using the Sixt application, they will immediately see the confirmation as a screen shot. Additionally, customers can view or cancel their reservations. The iPhone even displays the closest Sixt points of service.

Furthermore, Sixt has also expanded its successful iPhone application. The application is now available in 15 languages.
