Zipcar Brings Car Sharing to Downtown Detroit

Partnering with Rock Ventures LLC, Zipcar is now offering two car-sharing vehicles — a Ford Focus and Escape — in downtown Detroit, according to a report by The Detroit News.

Located at a parking garage on Woodward Ave., downtown Detroit customers can register online, make a reservation and rent a Zipcar for approximately $8 to $10 per hour, says the report.

“Zipcars offer another form of mobility and will supplement public transit and other modes of transportation,” Jeff Cranson, director of communications for the Michigan Department of Transportation, told The Detroit News.

After a 60-day test period, Zipcar could add additional cars in downtown Detroit, Matthew Roling, director of business development for Rock Ventures, told The Detroit News.
