car2go will end its carsharing service in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Feb. 15. The carsharing service has been serving Copenhagen since September 2014.
“Despite our many loyal membership, we regret to announce, we did not achieve the critical mass we consider necessary to become a viable and sold business in Copenhagen,” car2go said on its website. “Unfortunately, the customer ramp-up did not meet our business expectations and therefore we have decided to stop our carsharing activity as from February 2016.”
car2go members will be able to still drive the carsharing smart fortwo vehicles in Copenhagen until Feb. 15.
“We apologize to our loyal members and business partners for the inconvenience that may occur with the withdrawal of our carsharing activity from the Danish market,” said the company.
Currently, car2go operates in 30 cities around the global, including Madrid, Frankfurt, Stockholm, Toronto, Vienna, Denver, New York City, Seattle, San Diego and New York City.
