Enterprise has revealed the results of its Annual Weekend Getaway Survey, and found that 85 percent of respondents say they plan to escape on a weekend trip in 2018, up from 78 percent in 2017. Additionally, the percent of respondents who plan to spend $1,000 or more on a weekend getaway doubled in this year’s survey.

The top reasons for travel are due to stress (43 percent), news (39 percent), the current political climate (38 percent) and social media (24 percent).
More than 70 percent of respondents said the car ride is part of the trip to be enjoyed, and a majority said that renting a vehicle can contribute to the overall experience of the getaway.
“At Enterprise, we love that part of our job is helping travelers make their time off more fun and exciting,” said Steve Short, vice president at Enterprise. “Whether it’s getting customers in a vehicle to make the drive more enjoyable or providing ideas for weekend trips through our digital magazine, Pursuits with Enterprise, we want to inspire and enable the getaway, no matter the destination.”
