The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has approved final consent orders with CarMax, Asbury Automotive Group, and West-Herr Automotive Group, settling charges that they touted how rigorously they inspect their used cars, yet failed to adequately disclose that some of the cars were subject to unrepaired safety recalls.
CarMax and Other Dealers Fail to Disclose Unrepaired Recalls
Despite highlighting their inspections, the Federal Trade Commission alleges that CarMax, West-Herr Automotive Group, and Asbury Automotive Group failed to adequately disclose that some of their vehicles had open recalls, including the Takata airbag defect.
