As part of its Clean C.A.R.E. (customer, agent, rental, experience) rental process, Avon Car Truck and Van has updated its rental and cleaning process to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The rental process for the Los Angeles-based company can now be completed electronically to minimize person-to-person interaction, including touchless interaction whenever possible.
During rentals, agents wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and practice social distancing. Employee temperatures are taken at the beginning of each shift. Sick employees remain home.
In each Avon office, workplace surfaces are cleaned and disinfected regularly. Hand sanitizers are available at all locations to encourage hand hygiene.
In preparation for the rental, vehicle cabs and box interiors are disinfected with a product that meets the EPA’s criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2. The product, Electro-Biocide, is an EPA registered, broad spectrum disinfectant that has been laboratory and field-proven effective on “superbugs” yet is safe for use around humans and pets.
The active ingredient (dissolved chlorine dioxide gas) is near-immediate and rated 99.9999% effective. After the disinfection, a tamper seal is placed on the vehicle door to notify that no one has entered the vehicle.
Avon posted a YouTube video that demonstrates how Electro-Biocide is applied using a fog machine.
Avon, in business for 42 years, has nearly 1,000 vehicles in its fleet of various makes, models, and sizes. Its Avon Studio Transportation division is one of the largest providers of studio truck rentals to the Los Angeles film and television industry.
