Mike K. McKell is a member of the Utah State Senate serving the 7th District. He previously served in the Utah House of Representatives from 2013-2021.

At the 2021 International Car Rental Show (ICRS), Utah State Senator Mike K. McKell will share his views on how attendees can effectively engage with local and state politicians to enact positive change for the car rental industry.

Sen. McKell was invited to speak by David Purinton, president of PurCo, the largest risk management company in the U.S. for car rental. Purinton will share his years of statehouse experiences that led to successful outcomes on various car rental issues. Spanish Fork, the home office of PurCo, is in McKell’s district.

“We’ve consistently engaged with ICRS attendees on the need to become politically active, and we’ve invited legislators to speak on the issues,” said Chris Brown, executive editor of Auto Rental News and ICRS conference chair. “Yet this presentation takes a fresh perspective — Senator McKell and David Purinton walk us through the process from the inside to deliver fresh strategies on how best to communicate with the decisionmakers.”

The seminar “Making a Difference: How to communicate car rental's message to your local and state politicians” will convene at 9:30am PST on Tuesday, Aug. 17. The 2021 ICRS takes place Aug. 15-17 at Caesars Las Vegas.
