Hertz On Demand added a Chevrolet Volt plug-in electric vehicle to the University of Connecticut’s car sharing program on Jan. 30.

The Chevrolet Volt will be available in the Storrs Center parking garage at the university, where here are also four EV charging stations for the Hertz on Demand vehicle.

The University of Connecticut launched Hertz On Demand in October 2011 with four vehicles and the program has grown to include more than 800 members and six vehicles with the new addition, according to company.

Hourly rates start at $6.50 and there is no enrollment fee or annual membership fee to join Hertz On Demand.
