In light of Avis’ 10th anniversary in China this year, the car rental brand is looking to further expand its business in the country, according to an article in China Daily on Feb. 1.

Compared to divisions in North America, Western Europe and Australia, Avis China accounts for a small fraction of Avis’ global business, said Avis China General Manager Terence Chiu. But, Chiu said there are opportunities to grow and that Avis China now has a fleet or more than 7,000 cars at 178 locations in 41 cities across the country.

China's Ministry of Public Security Traffic Management Bureau reported that 80 million out of 180 million people in China have a driver’s license, but do not own a vehicle, giving Avis an opening to attract customers.
