According to Maui News, a chicken caused a power outage at the Kahului Airport in Hawaii when it entered a Maui Electric Co. transformer in the rental car area on Feb 26.

The backup generator had kicked on, but a shorted circuit board did not send power to the terminal. It took an hour and 30 minutes for the power to be restored at the rental car companies located outside the airport.

The effects were minimal, according to Marvin Moniz, Maui District airport manager. Security screenings were done manually and passengers from five arriving planes were led off the planes using the stairs during the outage.

It is unclear if the chicken survived.
