The Indianapolis Star reported that a new all-electric car-sharing service is set to begin in Indianapolis next spring.

Under the direction of the Paris-based Bollore Group, this new car-sharing service plans to include 500 plug-in electric cars and 1,200 charging stations – making it the largest all-electric car-sharing program in the United States, according to the Indianapolis Star report.

Bollore’s car-sharing service emphasizes one-way and short-term car sharing. According to the Indianapolis Star, a rental will probably last 15 to 30 minutes and customers can leave their rental at another charging station near their endpoint.

Entitled Autolib’, Bollore started its car-sharing program in Paris in late 2011. It includes 1,800 of Bollore’s Bluecars and approximately 5,000 charging stations at 823 rental locations, says the Indianapolis Star report.

In Indianapolis, Bollore intends to use U.S. cars such as a Nissan LEAF and a Ford Focus Electric, according to the Indianapolis Star.
