Avis Budget Group Inc. recently announced that since the vehicle rental company started in 2006, the Avis Budget Charitable Foundation has issued more than 250 grants to different organizations and causes.

"We believe that it's important for our company and our employees to be active in our communities, to help improve the lives of our own people as well as our customers and neighbors," said Ronald L. Nelson, chairman and chief executive officer of Avis Budget Group. "The Foundation is one avenue through which Avis Budget Group can give back to our communities, and we are proud that the Foundation has supported so many outstanding organizations."

The Foundation supports a range of organizations, including health care research, veterans' advocacy groups, children's welfare and the creative and performing arts. In 2012, organizations receiving support included the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes, the American Heart Association, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Preschool Advantage Inc., New Jersey Heroes and the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Avis Budget Charitable Foundation is a private foundation that does not currently solicit contributions.
