More people will be renting cars for the Labor Day holiday this year compared to last year, according to Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s early reservation rental data. Enterprise neighborhood reservations are up more than 25 percent in comparison to this time last year, according to data from its 5,500 neighborhood locations.

And that’s on top of 25 percent year-over-year increases in reservations since 2010, says Enterprise.

“People traveling for the Labor Day holiday are in search of better fuel efficiency or more room while also looking to save wear and tear on their current daily commuter vehicles,” said Steve Short, vice president of Enterprise Rent-A-Car. “With the average age of today’s cars coming in at more than 11 years, people are renting more dependable cars that provide vacation peace of mind.”

The Enterprise data is consistent with AAA’s recent report, “2013 AAA Labor Day Travel Forecast,” which also shows a significant uptick in travel for this year's Labor Day holiday.
