The state of Hawaii is asking for bids to help fund a temporary car rental facility at Honolulu International Airport. This facility will be used while a permanent consolidated rental car facility is being built at the airport.

According to Hawaii’s Department of Transportation, construction at the temporary facility would include demolition of existing car rental buildings, re-striping of an existing parking structure and parking stalls, new temporary car wash and fueling stations and a new permanent customer service building.

The estimated cost of construction for the temporary rental facility is over $10 million, according to Hawaii’s Department of Transportation. Bids for the project will be accepted by the Department of Transportation until Thursday Oct. 3.
