Silvercar, the app-based car rental service, announced yesterday that Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will be its next location starting Nov. 4. This automated car rental company provides customers with one model, the silver Audi A4.

Since Silvercar’s launch nine months ago, LAX will become its sixth airport location — other operations include airports in Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Francisco.

“It’s time for car rental that doesn’t suck at LAX,” said Silvercar CEO Luke Schneider. “Time for travelers to skip the lines, avoid the counters, Heisman the upsells and get a great car every time.”

From reservations to return, Silvercar customers manage their entire car rental using a smartphone app. Upon landing at LAX, a curbside valet takes them to Silvercar’s off-airport location less than a mile away. According to the company, customers then unlock their Audi A4 simply by scanning a QR code on the vehicle’s windshield.

Silvercar rates at LAX will be $89 per weekday and $59 per day on weekends, says the company. Advance reservations are now being accepted for Los Angeles-bound travelers via the Silvercar app.
