Hawaii’s State Department of Transportation has completed a Final Environmental Assessment for the proposed consolidated rental car facility at Maui’s Kahului Airport. The assessment showed a finding of no significant impact for the proposed facility.
According to the Department of Transportation, the new rental car facility would provide needed space for the on-airport rental companies, reduce traffic and congestion on the terminal roadway system and improve overall customer experience.
Located on approximately 17 acres of land at Kahului Airport, the new facility will include around 4,200 parking stalls for rental cars, a turnaround area, a customer service area and fueling and car wash areas for rental car companies, says the Department of Transportation.
