The Global Travel and Tourism Partnership (GTTP) announced that Enterprise Holdings has joined as its latest industry partner to help support its multi-country educational program, which introduces students to career opportunities in travel and tourism.

As part of this initiative, Peter Smith, vice president of global franchising at Enterprise Holdings — which owns and operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Car Rental brands — has joined the GTTP Advisory Board.

With the support of its industry partners, the GTTP teaches students about careers in travel and tourism in more than 5,600 schools in Brazil, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Russia, South Africa, Tanzania and the United Kingdom.

“The Global Travel and Tourism partnership provides life-changing educational opportunities for students,” said Nancy Needham, executive director of GTTP. “Thanks to the support of our industry partners, our work means that we are also helping to educate future employees and address the global skills shortage in the travel and tourism industry. We warmly welcome Enterprise Holdings as a valued industry partner who will help us provide an excellent perspective to students on the global car rental market, a vital component of the travel and tourism industry.”

“We appreciate the opportunity to be part of such a forward-thinking coalition, especially as Enterprise Holdings continues to expand its global footprint,” said Smith. “Our role in the international travel industry as well as our growing franchise network makes the GTTP initiative critically important. We strive to take the long-term view in all aspects of our business — and what could be more long-term or sustainable than investing in today’s students and tomorrow’s employees in the travel and tourism sector?”
