With a vote of 4 to 1, House Bill 1187 in Colorado has been killed by the Senate Committee on State, Veterans & Military Affairs.
Opposed by the American Car Rental Association (ACRA), this bill would restrict the damages a car rental company can recover from an authorized driver in regards to a damaged rental vehicle.
It was introduced at the behest of State Farm Insurance in an attempt to overturn the loss-of-use and administrative fee ruling in Koenig v. PurCo, according to those involved in the Koenig case.
Sources say the bill could be revisited by the Senate this summer.
