After agreeing to meet New York City’s demand to have its drivers licensed by the Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC), Lyft will launch its ride-sharing service in all five boroughs of New York City.

On Friday, Lyft started its limited launch in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island — it will complete its rollout in the coming weeks, says the company.

According to Lyft, it will continue to work with TLC, the Department of Financial Services and the attorney general’s office to create new rules for peer-to-peer transportation in New York. During this process, Lyft will halt its operations in Buffalo and Rochester by Aug. 1.
