Peer-to-peer ride-sharing Lyft has acquired Hitch, a ride-sharing mobile app platform that connects multiple passengers traveling along similar routes.

This will help Lyft expands its Lyft Line, a daily use program with the theme “shared rides along shared routes,” according to the company’s blog.

Hitch co-founders Snir Kodesh and Noam Szpiro will be joining the Lyft team, says the Lyft blog.

Initially launching in San Francisco on iOS smartphones, Lyft Ride will soon be expanding to other cities as well as to Android smartphones.
