Zipcar announced it has launched in Ottawa with a fleet of 23 car-sharing vehicles available for residents, businesses and students.

Zipcars are located in designated spots in Centretown, Lowertown and the Glebe, and are available to reserve by the hour or by the day through the Zipcar mobile app, website or over the phone. Each Zipcar reservation comes with about 125 miles of driving per day, gas and insurance.

Vehicles in the fleet include the Mini Cooper Sinatra, Volkswagen Golf Bento and Audi A4 Babushka. The company says it plans to add more vehicles in Ottawa in the coming months.

"Zipcar is thrilled to be expanding our 'wheels when you want them' service to Canada's capital," said Zipcar President Kaye Ceille. "Area residents now have all the benefits of car ownership without the cost and hassles, while helping the city reduce congestion and alleviate parking demand."
