Sojern, a performance marketing platform for travel brands, has released its Q1 Global Travel Insights Report based on the analysis of more than a billion traveler intent data points across the globe.

Globally, the top 10 booked destinations during the first quarter were: Canada, the U.S., Mexico, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.

For North America, the top five searched destinations were Miami, New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Orlando.

Sojern also looked at the top destinations searched by region:

- Latin America: Miami, New York City, Madrid, Orlando, and Lisbon.
- Europe: London, Barcelona, Paris, New York City, and Lisbon & Rome.
- Middle East/Africa: London, Istanbul, Paris, Izmir, and Amsterdam.
- Asia Pacific: Bangkok, Tokyo, London, Osaka, and Singapore.

When looking at summer 2016 travel trends, Sojern looked at top events including summer music festivals in the U.S. (Governor’s Ball, Outside Lands, and Lollapalooza), the Copa America soccer tournament, and the Summer Olympics.

For the first time in history, the Copa America soccer tournament will be held in the U.S. The top originations for all Copa games include Dallas, Chicago, Boston, New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, and Atlanta, according to the report.

From Aug. 6-21, the Summer Olympics will be hosted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The top countries looking to travel to the Olympics include the U.S., Brazil, United Kingdom, Turkey, and Japan, according to the report. U.S. travelers are showing a 577% increase in travel intent during the Olympic period. In fact, only Japan has a higher increase in travel intent, with 716% change.

Sojern data shows that 34% of U.S. travelers are looking to spend eight to 11 days at the Olympics.
