Car rental companies and investors in China are currently observing 327.37 million drivers that were licensed as of the end of 2015 and comparing that number to the 124 million cars that are privately owned in China, according to an article by South China Morning Post.

Investors believe that the bigger the gap means a greater demand for rentals, according to the report.

The demand in car rentals is likely related to factors such as air pollution and congestion control as well as a lack of industry regulation, says the report.
