Two years ago, Lyft launched Lyft Line, a daily use ride program where riders heading the same way can share the ride and split the cost.
Starting in San Francisco, the Lyft Line service has now expanded to 14 U.S. cities, according to a Lyft report. In the last two years, Lyft Line riders have traveled 135 million miles.
Currently, Lyft Line makes up more than 40% of all Lyft rides in San Francisco, according to the report. And 50% of Line riders only take Line in the Lyft app.
Lyft Line has been a way to provide more affordable rides to more people. Line riders are filling seats that would otherwise be empty, says the report.
