Pam Nicholson, CEO of Enterprise Holdings

Pam Nicholson, the CEO and president of Enterprise Holdings, has been recognized in Fortune magazine’s 2016 list of the “Most Powerful Women in Business.”

Nicholson appeared on the list in the 17th position, up from the 20th position in 2015 and the 22nd position in 2014, according to the magazine. She first appeared on Fortune’s annual list in 2007 at number 44.

In 1981, Nicholson started her career with Enterprise as a management trainee and was named the president in 2008 and CEO in 2013. She became the company’s first non-family CEO. Currently, she’s expanding the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental, and Alamo Rent A Car brands in the U.S. and overseas. The company’s revenue in 2016 topped $20 billion.

Fortune magazine editors compiled the list based on the size and importance of the woman's business in the global economy; the health and direction of the business; the arc of the woman's career; and social and cultural influence.
