Penn State University has partnered with Zimride by Enterprise, a service of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, to launch a new online ride-sharing service.

Available only to Penn State students, faculty, and staff, the private Zimride network allows them to create a free profile using their PSU access ID and password, according to the company.

Members of the university’s network can search for open seats or post their ride and destination on a secure and private network. The ride-sharing platform allows members to link their profile to their Facebook page, according to the company.

“Zimride will help Penn State students, faculty, and staff across all 24 campuses find and share rides for commuting, road trips, and special events,” said Rob DeMayo, director of transportation services at Penn State. “Ride-sharing is a great way to reduce traffic congestion and travel-related expenses, and Zimride provides a secure platform to help Penn Staters get where they’re going together.”

“At Enterprise, we offer our customers a total transportation solution by providing a range of sustainable options,” said Ryan Johnson, Enterprise’s vice president who oversees Zimride as well as other commuter options including Enterprise Rideshare and vRide. “With Zimride, members of the Penn State community can coordinate one-time travel plans, such as holiday-break rides, as well as ongoing rides and daily commutes to campus.”
