Massachusetts to Conduct Uber and Lyft Background Checks a Year Early

Massachusetts’ background check system agreement with the two Transportation Network Companies is  shaping up to be the toughest in the country.

The background checks will begin by January 6, 2017 and must be passed by April 3, 2017.

Any driver currently working for Uber or Lyft will have to undergo the state Criminal offender Record (CORI) background check, and test that they are not a registered sex offender.

Any TNC driver that does not comply with or pass the testing requirements will not be allowed to operate business in Massachusetts.
