Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has started plans for the design and construction process for the new Consolidated Rent-A-Car Center at LAX, according to an article by the Daily Breeze.

The ConRAC is part of the $5.5-billion Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP) and will consolidate more than 20 car rental offices in one location, the article reported. The deadline for companies to submit statements of qualifications is Feb. 21.

The project also includes a proposed 2.25-mile Automated People Mover, which LAWA said would eliminate the need for rental car courtesy vehicles entering the Central Terminal Area.
