Hyundai will offer its 2017 Ioniq Electric compact sedan as part of a subscription program in California that allows users to drive the car for at least $275 per month plus tax for 36 months without mileage penalties.

Hyundai will also reimburse users for the cost of electricity based on the number of miles driven up to 50,000 miles.

Hyundai will offer three subscription packages under the Ioniq Unlimited+ program, including the Electric for $275, Limited for $305, and Limited with Ultimate Package for $365 per month.

Customers must put down a $2,500 down payment that's reimbursed through California's electric vehicle rebate.

Hyundai will initially offer the program in Southern California in Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties.
