As part of a $60 million initiative by the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation in the fight against food insecurity in Europe and North America, the Bundesverband Deutsche Tafel eV has the first of six annual donations of over 80,000 euros to help needy people in Germany.

The donation is part of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation’s Fill Your Tank initiative, which was launched to celebrate Enterprise’s 60th anniversary. In Germany, Enterprise is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

As part of the Fill Your Tank initiative, Enterprise will provide a total of $60 million over a six-year period to address nutritional uncertainty in all markets where the company has company-owned sites. In Europe, the initiative is being implemented in cooperation with The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN).

Through the partnership with GFN, Enterprise is supporting the Bundesverband Deutsche Tafel eV in the next six years with a total of 480,000 euros. The Bundesverband Deutsche Tafel eV is the umbrella organization for more than 920 nonprofit boards in Germany. These collect impeccably excess food from manufacturers and traders and distribute them regularly to up to 1.5 million needy people.

"We are very grateful to the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation for their valuable help,” said Jochen Brühl, chairman of the Federal Association Deutsche Tafel eV.

"It is a special honor for us to contribute to such an important issue through the generous support of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation as part of our 60th anniversary,” said Jim Strack, corporate vice president of Enterprise. “This anniversary coincides with our 20th anniversary in Germany. From the outset, it was also a great concern for us to be involved in our neighborhoods and communities in which we operate. We are now represented in more than 200 locations in Germany and will also support the great work of the boards locally through the voluntary commitment of our employees.
