Ridecell Inc., a carsharing and ride-hailing platform provider, is providing the technology infrastructure for Gig Car Share, a new mobility service launched by AAA Northern California, Nevada, and Utah.
Gig Car Share, a one-way carsharing service, recently launched in Oakland and Berkeley. Gig’s fleet features hybrid sedans that offer room for five passengers, cargo space, and even a bike rack.
Ridecell’s end-to-end integration handles registering new customers to the service, including driver record verification and payment processing, according to the company.
“With the Ridecell collaboration on Gig, our pioneering platform will reach new markets,” said Aarjav Trivedi, founder and CEO of Ridecell. “Thanks to our established expertise in carsharing, ridesharing, and other new mobility services, Ridecell is uniquely equipped to help launch innovative transportation offerings. We are thrilled to be the technology platform for Gig Car Share and look forward to the service’s expansion in the coming months.”
